Raymarine Press Release
Tuesday 1st June 2010
Raymarine's premier navigation system, the G Series, has been chosen for installation on a 20 metre Alicat workboat, to be used as a support vessel for offshore wind farm maintenance.
The Alicat workboat, fully equipped with Raymarine's G Series
system was on display at this year's Seawork exhibition. The boat has
been built as a support vessel for offshore wind farms, one of the most
popular forms of renewable energy. Its leading-edge design also makes it
suitable for ROV and dive support, marine mammal mitigation work and
bird observations.
The Raymarine G Series offers unbeatable quality when installed as a complete system with HD Digital Radar, giving unbelieveable high-definition and high-quality images. Its ultra-bright monitors can be used in direct sunlight with no loss of visibility, meaning users can see the detailed data available at all times.
The electronics installation was carried out by Raymarine service dealer Charity and Taylor, based in Suffolk, who advised Alicat Workboats on the best equipment to use when navigating around offshore wind farm turbines.
Charity and Taylor Managing Director, Nigel Darling, said: "We recommended the Raymarine G Series due to the high-definition quality you get on screen when using the system. When approaching the wind turbines, the HD Digital Radar and G Series monitor showed the most detail. We were able to clearly see the turbines, which were well defined on the display when approaching. This makes it invaluable in bad conditions."
